stereotypes are observed / prejudices are manufactured. they create a circuitous feedback with many entrances and exits; in other words, they feed each other; and both are valid human tools for survival as long as you can reason with them. the trick is to understand how to better utilize the tools or in most cases it may be to under-utilize… the entire fields of advertising and marketing are built on exploiting and manipulating stereotypes to only make money, so stereotypes and prejudices matter, we deal with them everyday and we have to understand how we individually deal with stereotypes. a big problem with stereotypes is when we use them to legislate or as an excuse to not have a dialogue or as an answer to what the dialogue should have been
